How to forgive the "unforgivable" How to let go of shame after abuse How do we know what forgiveness or healing looks like What can we do through vulnerability hangovers?

After experiencing over twenty years of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse Rene Michelle says she is now able to embrace her story and healing journey.

Growing up in a fatherless home, Rene was subjected to sexual abuse starting at the age of ten years old from multiple "unsafe" men including family members. As a young woman, she had two suicide attempts as well as years of substance abuse and harmful relationships as a means to cope with the trauma she experienced.

In today's episode, we talk about how Rene has not only been able to heal from her past but also use her powerful story to impact women all over the world who struggle with feelings of shame and isolation from the abuse that they experienced. We also dig into the effects of complex trauma, the importance of community, how we can raise our children with confidence and safety, and why healing begins with identity.
