#13 - Interview: Dr. Andrea Medaris, Clinical Psychologist, Gilmore Girls Expert

Carli interviews Dr. Andrea Medaris. Dr. Medaris is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Brunswick, Maine. She works primarily with couples in troubled relationships using Emotion-Focused Therapy, and she also works with individuals with complex trauma histories. She is interested in relationships, love, and attachment, which were the foci of her doctoral dissertation. 

Today, we discuss her journey into clinical psychology and her experiences in her training. Dr. Medaris identifies as bisexual and polyamorous and we discuss her experiences during her training and what other training programs could do be more inclusive to a variety of individuals. We also discuss her interest in Gilmore Girls and Dr. Medaris breaks down a few of the relationships for us in the episode. We also discuss the importance of talking about extended family with patients in our individualistic culture.
