Today’s podcast topic is Part 1 of the Seven Deadly Sins Series which will start with Gluttony.  Gluttony has at least 2 of the 3 main temptation principles in it.  Maybe all three.  We often consume things we shouldn’t or overconsume based on the lust of the eye.  The food or drink looks appealing, and we can’t imagine life without partaking.  Secondly, we often assume that if the food or drink looks appetizing that it taste just as good.  Focusing on the satisfaction of the food or drink as justification of consumption is lust of the flesh.  You can argue that it also has the third temptation element because we have the belief that consuming the food or drink will fulfill what’s missing in us.  It’s going to satisfy our needs in a way that God can’t.  We essentially, think we can take care of a false need ourselves without God’s help.  Constantly, chasing our tail because if the food or drink tastes as good as it looks it only is temporary.  Therefore, whatever emptiness or problems we are trying to mask returns and we go looking for some satisfaction again.
