The Olney Hymnal contains hymns of John Newton and William Cowper (pronounced Cooper). All his life, William suffered bouts of depression. After coming to Christ, his poems were set to music and sung throughout England. His poetry/hymns provided relief for himself and shows us how we can fight off the blues and find God's grace in our situation so we need never "sink in hopeless fear".
