“Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest. The choice to let out true selves be seen.”

-Brene Brown

Getting BACK to our authentic selves! If you haven’t had to check in with yourself and ask yourself why you got stated in something? What you wanted to do as a kid? Where is the passion that you once had for that one thing?... then you probably should. We all lose our “why” at one point in the game. Meaning, that we had goals and agendas and hopes and dreams AND then life happens. You take the job to pay for the family, you move to marry the one true love, you sacrifice some piece of your authenticity along the way because you think that you have to. That is when you start to feel out of alignment and something just isn’t right. From there, everything shifts. Like athletes, as soon as you’re injured, it throws everything else off as well. Not all is a loss however, we just need to consistently check back in and be honest with ourselves so we can show up honest in the world. You can sacrifice for things AND keep your true, authentic core values at the forefront of your life, you just need to be intentional and aware. The only way to reach self-actualization aka completely at peace and happy with ourselves is to live an authentic life. Today I welcome Steve Kolander to the T&T mic- he is the perfect person to share an incredible example of living intentionally and athletically. Steve shares his journey as a creative, a store teller, entering the music business chasing a dream only to lose his voice literally while battling cancer to literally regaining it through healing, but FINDING it through his son. Steve chases the dream, does the responsible life thing, and now is doing both… as we all can. Now is the time to dive back into what we actually want to be doing, one of the few things we can control. The world will be a better place if we all made ourselves happier, authentically, first… then we can get to everything else:)

Sticky Story Inc, Steve Kolander’s Creative Agency:

One day, tens of thousands of years ago, man saw a reflection of himself in a lake and pronounced, "I am." In the very next moment he realized, "And one day I will not be." And from that moment on, man has created a story about why he is here and what his purpose is in life.

Businesses are actually no different. What is our identity and why do we exist in this world? We need to know why we exist so we can share that core value with others. And when our audience recognizes that they share the same core belief, a relationship is born. And that is how our businesses grow in customers and revenue. It's that simple. Or is it?

Watch the videos to see how the core belief is the subtext to each brand story.
