Turbitt & Duck travelled to Coffs Harbour in November to record live interviews with delegates and keynotes at SWITCH 2018. SWITCH is the NSW Public Libraries Association’s annual conference with delegates from all over NSW in attendance. There’s a focus on building partnerships with local councils, advocacy, library new builds and renovations and library funding. Take a look at #SWITCH2018 on Twitter to see the wide ranging issues and work being done in NSW public libraries.

We spoke to Councillor Dallas Tout from the NSWPLA Executive Committee, Paula Kelly Paull from Hobsons Bay City Council, Gavin Carnegie from Local Government Professionals Australia NSW, Theresa Jude from Lachlan Shire Library Services and Robert Knight, Executive Director, Riverina Regional Library.

In this episode we discussed:

NSWPLA and what they do.Condobolin Library renovation. The Geography of Yes – Leonee Ariel DerrRenew Our Libraries – if you live in NSW, please take the time to contact your local MP and ask them for more funding for NSW public libraries!

And here’s homework from Gavin Carnegie!

Gavin suggests saying yes to everything is not the answer to creating opportunities. It’s about being selective and choosing projects, activities, roles that pique your existing interests. @UrzilaCarlson’s TED talk is his inspiration for this. https://t.co/VBAmfmNYG2 #SWITCH2018
