Pamela McGowan is the Team Manager of Libraries at Townsville City Council. After being reminded about the magic of libraries when teaching in a remote Indigenous school in the Northern Territory, she completed a Graduate Diploma of Teacher Librarianship and a Masters of Information and Knowledge Management externally while working as an ICT classroom coach.

As someone who’s always keen to try different things, Pamela’s experience in libraries includes coordinating a literature festival, creating ePublishing workshops, conducting outreach events to businesses and leading teams through different changes. In all of these roles, meeting community needs and encouraging learning have been a strong focus.

Pamela was selected to be part of INELi Oceania Cohort 2 as an innovator; which has been a life changing experience due to the networks that have been formed within the Pacific region and the potential for the library community to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

In her spare time, Pamela enjoys following American sports (especially the Seattle Seahawks), discovering new places and reading thousands of board books with her son.

Side note: Pamela’s son has had 11393 books read to him and counting! OMG!
