Jesse Betend had a conversation with Wanda James, co-founder of Simply Pure, one of the very first legal dispensaries in the country, and as it happens, the first black person to receive a cannabis license. Lately, Wanda has been part of an effort to create a social equity program in Colorado. That's right, despite being the first state in the country to pass cannabis legalization, Colorado still does not have a social equity program. Jesse talked with Wanda in order to find out more about what she hopes to do differently, in order to achieve outcomes that reflect these programs’ stated goals.
