Today we sat down with the President and CEO of Scripps Health, a non-profit, integrated health care delivery system with over 10,000 employees. Mr. Chris Van Gorder is our spotlight leader this week and we dive into the meaning of integrity and his journey that lead him to leadership! What does integrity mean to you?
Let’s flash back to when Chris was 13 years old and began his career in the healthcare industry, following a job as a police officer. Facing difficult and scary situations, eventually Chris was retired by the city as a police officer. From an injury in a hospital, it brought him back into the healthcare industry and he became the Director of Security at the very hospital he was treated for an injury. That was not the end of his career path or the vision he saw, he went back to graduate school so he could get into administration in healthcare. Fast forward and now Chris has turned around an organization and created one of the strongest healthcare systems in California! There is so much more in-depth to Chris’s story, you don’t want to miss it!
