"For most people, January 6th happened for a few hours … But for those of us who were in the thick of it, it has not ended."

Those are the words of Capitol police officer Aquilino Gonell, as he testified this morning during the first hearing of the January 6th Insurrection Committee.

Gonell and three other officers each gave opening statements and answered questions from committee members – recounting the physical and verbal assaults from rioters that day.

Today, experts help us unpack today’s hearing and our understanding of what happened on January 6th.
