If we go to Colossians, Chapter 3 and verses 12 and 13 we will see that The Lord says that the elect of God and beloved are to put on tender mercies; kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering, bearing with one another, forgiving one another. If anyone has a complaint against another, even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
We need to walk the talk. The hardest place to be a Christian is in your own home and my dear friend, as we are in lockdown, we are in close proximity with each other. If fact, we cannot get away from each other and we need to work things out.
You know, I looked up the Bible definition of this scripture – Colossians, Chapter 3 and verses 12 and 13 and this is what this reading says: Paul calls the Colossians to a holy lifestyle, consistent with their new identity. Believers have been chosen by God and stand before Him as His beloved holy ones. They are to live up to the lifestyle that they are in Christ.
Today, love one another, be patient with one another because this lockdown will pass by very soon and then we will carry on living our lives.
So it is a good thing sometimes. You know, they talk about iron sharpening iron, and I think in many cases, in many homes, I think that is what The Lord is doing right now – like putting a whole lot of rough stones in a concrete mixer and then turning the concrete mixer. Those stones come out nice and smooth and round. Let us be slow to speak. Let us be quick to listen. Let us prefer one another. Let us go the extra mile so that the world can see that we are totally different to them. That phone call, that little note, that prayer time.
This morning, I got up early and I don’t want you to pat me on the back, and I washed all the dishes for Jill. She gets up just after I have made her tea and I was going to come through and have my quiet time and the Holy Spirit said, “Hold on, why don’t you do the dishes first?” So I washed the dishes and now I am going for a ride on my bicycle.
