Dan Buettner is the author and founder of the Blue Zones, which was a project that looked at regions of the world where people were living the longer than average - Okinawa, Japan; Sardinia, Italy; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Loma Linda, California; and Icaria, Greece. Dan is also a National Geographic Fellow, a New York Times Bestselling author, an Emmy Awards-winner for co-directing the Africatrek: A Journey by Bicycle through Africa, and holds three Guinness records for endurance cycling.

In this episode, Dan talks about his work with the Blue Zones, what the 5 Blue Zones Hotspots had in common, how to apply the lessons from the Blue Zones to urban/food deserts, and the quality of life for those living in the Blue Zones. I personally think that this is some of the best research out there for those who are interested in learning about longevity and what one can do to help maximize it. In short: eat a healthy diet, move your body, and surround yourself in positivity!
