Wes is joined by award-winning comic book editor Joe Corallo to discuss of the most influential comic creators and graphic novels of all-time, Will Eisner’s A Contract With God. Will Eisner is likely the finest writer/artist in America comic book history. From his early work in the 1940’s on The Spirit through his final works in the mid-2000’s, Eisner is the consummate visual story teller. Inspired by the pain of losing his own daughter far too young, Eisner’s work on A Contract With God, and Other Tenement Stories remains powerful and raw to this day. There’s also a deep note of cynicism as he tells the story of Frimme Hersh arriving in America, helping people before tragedy besets his adopted daughter and he turns from God. The visual artistry is something to behold and is a driving reason why A Contract With God, and Other Tenement Stories is one of the greatest comic book stories ever told.
