Comics Aficionados: Hickman Leaves X-Men Early, Gay Superman Rumor, WebToon Deal and More

Wes is joined by Comics Aficionados: comic book and entertainment YouTtuber Tristen from Nerdette’s Newsstand, award-winning comic book editor Joe Corallo, comic book retailer and YouTuber Uel Carter from Fantastic Comics, comic book critic Josh McDonald and co-host Dok. The Comics Aficionados break down all the latest comic book industry news and rumors. Jonathan Hickman confirmed what many already suspected. He’s leaving the X-Men line after his Inferno miniseries releases. What most didn’t expect was for Hickman to explain his planned trilogy remains unfinished as the rest of the writers veto’d the man behind House of X/Powers of X. (00:06:27) EVS started a rumor this week that new Superman Jon Kent is coming out as gay soon. The problem is, after all we’ve seen at DC Comics recently it’s hard not to take it seriously. (00:54:09) Leah Williams confirmed Jonathan HIckman’s account of a dysfunctional X-Men office. Explaining that her work on X-Factor was altered without consulting her before the series was cancelled. (01:25:26) It appears that comic book writers at Marvel and DC are getting lazier and lazier virtue signaling in comics. This week we learn Tom Taylor had Dick Grayson inherit a Billion dollars so he could give it away to all of Taylor’s favorite causes. (01:52:43) Brian Michael Bendis was everywhere at DC Comics not too long ago. This week he announced his Jinxworld line is moving to Dark Horse. (02:13:20) There is a ton of new information about the future of the MCU after Phase 3. But does anyone care? (02:22:40) Finally, DC Comics announced an agreement with South Korean web comic company WebToon to adapt and produce content featuring DC Comics characters.
