In today’s episode of The Think BIG for Africa Podcast, my guest is a young African journalist and filmmaker; Idris Ibrahim Muktar. Idris recently suffered the consequences of being human; he made a mistake as a young person and he lost his dream job working with the global news channel CNN for an 8-year-old tweet.
In our conversation, we discussed his stupid mistake, and the impact of cancel culture on learning, critical thinking, and basic development on a continent full of young people. Ultimately, we agreed that Africa cannot afford Cancel Culture, as it is Anti-Progress. And for the good of society, people need to get over their emotional zealousness to cancel people whom they disagree with.
