Founded in 2010, Memrise uses dynamic, on-demand language immersion to help learners acquire the language skills they need in order to have real-life conversations. It all started to take from, when Ben Whately, the founder & CEO of Memrise developed a theory of effective language acquisition and moved to Qiqihaer, a small city on the China / Siberian border, to test whether this theory would work in practice.Within a few months, he spoke the language well enough to set up a business with an entirely Chinese-speaking team. And sometime after, Memrise was launched.
