Irene Brettman, M.S., CCC-SLP is a doctoral candidate at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions, where she also received her master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2013. She is a speech-language pathologist at the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Boston, where she focuses primarily on inpatient acute and outpatient care, including modified barium swallow studies. Her primary area of research investigates patient and clinician experiences in using telepractice for stroke support groups. Her clinical interests include telepractice use across the continuum of care, adult language disorders, dysphagia, post-polio syndrome, and culturally humble and responsive care.
