In this episode, Dr. Shaw continues to review the Q&A section of her recent parenting book called I LIKE HOW YOU SPEAK TO ME... A PARENT'S GUIDE TO EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION WITH CHILDREN.   However, before she gets to the section of the book being recapped on this podcast episode, Dr. Shaw openly discusses her motivation for sharing knowledge.  She has a true philosophy of "paying it forward," and her longstanding multi-age school program for a combined Kindergarten-First Grade classroom served as a perfect example and illustration of that philosophy.  Regarding her parenting guide, as of this podcast episode, Dr. Shaw is spending time discussing the above-reference closing section of the book which features the ten most frequently asked questions that Dr. Shaw hears from parents and podcast listeners.  This week, she dives into third of those questions which is also perhaps the most common question, "What do I do when my child won’t listen to me?   No one understands parent-child communication better than Dr. Shaw, and her answer to this question which focuses on front-loading agreements between parent and child is astoundingly simple and accurate. This is great material, and it addresses what is apparently a very common dilemma.  Enjoy!
