In this episode, Dr. Shaw veers into a topic that is related to all of her work on social and emotional learning, but is somewhat different since she takes a stand on current events in this broadcast.   Dr. Shaw has become troubled recently by some trends in education that are, in her mind, counterproductive, backwards thinking and quite dangerous.  She has been outraged by things that are happening in the State of Florida where teaching courses and using course materials that are not approved by the State can be a felony.  Much of this restrictive thinking centers of issues of race and the denial of history, and it involves an imposition of censorship that is uncalled for in modern education.  Moreover, Dr. Shaw is a well-known advocate of learning by making mistakes, and if our cultural mistakes made in the past are erased, there will be no learning lessons for the present and future children in our society.   This is a passionate and fascinating discussion, and it lines up with what is in the national news right now.
