Emily is a PDHPE Teacher at Chatswood High School in Sydney.
Emily approaches PDHPE with passion and innovation, she implements evidence based teacher professional learning, establishes quality professional networks and leads teacher reflections to improve student and staff outcomes. Her curriculum interests lie in creating signature pedagogies, where students have agency to lead their own learning and develop into lifelong learners, equipped to flourish in an ever changing world. Emily is a leader of flexible learning space design and creating physical learning environments that encourage movement in the classroom. She has written curriculum support material for the NSW Department of Education and has consulted on curriculum creation and reviews. Emily is currently studying a PhD at the University of Newcastle, investigating the unique impact of variety on adolescence autonomous motivation in physical education. Emily works closely with the NSW Department of Education on improving the physical health of students across the state and in designing and providing training for primary and secondary principals to lead their student and staff health outcomes. She also works closely with the university sector to support the implementation of quality pre-service teacher education. Emily presents at numerous leading conferences each year and has been featured at BETT in London in partnership with Canva for Education and in the Sydney Morning Herald, The Daily Telegraph, The Education, Education Matters and on Channel 7 and SBS for her innovative approach to teaching PDHPE.
