While Shara and I are both boy moms, we have both been teen girls...and whew! Our mommas had a hard time. When you were a teen, were you able to confide in your mother? Go to her for advice? In this episode, we're joined by a very special guest, Aleeka, The Safe Space Curator and diving into why girls do not talk to their moms, and how mothers can create safe spaces to have conversations with their daughters. Aleeka Moody aka Ms. Aleeka began her work with children about 10 years ago, as a Program Aide with the Boys and Girls Club. From there, she went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences from Winthrop University. While at Winthrop, Aleeka discovered her love of working with teens through her time program planning for another organization. Upon returning home, to North Agusta South Carolina, Ms. Aleeka felt that she needed to put the skills she gained in college as well as her time working with teens to better use. Thus came Teen Dreams in the fall of 2014. Ms. Aleeka became a certified youth and family life coach in 2016 and focused her practice solely on teen/tween girls and their moms. Through her practice, Aleeka feels that she can help tween/teen girls find healthy ways to cope with issues that arise in the years that shape their identities. Episode Resources: Ms. Aleekahttps://www.msaleeka.com/______________________________________________________ Like what you heard?
