Dr. Markesha McWilliams Henderson is the Director of the Center for Innovative Teaching, Learning and Engagement and Associate Professor of Management. In that role, she supports the professional development of all CAU faculty, specifically with creating engaging classroom experiences using digital learning tools and course redesign for online platforms.  She earned a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from The George Washington University, a Master of Science in Sports Administration from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communication Arts from University of Wisconsin.

Her academic work contributes to the discovery, application, and delivery of knowledge with specific expertise in the intersection of higher education and intercollegiate athletics administration. Dr. Henderson presents a unique combination of experiences to inform her work including experience as a former Division I All-American Track and Field Athlete and National Champion. Before entering the academy she acquired over 10 years of executive experience in the sport industry including serving as  Director of Communications for the the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), Assistant Commissioner/SWA for the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
