Quarterback

Start or Sit These Players on Monday Night to Win Week 7 Fantasy

Jameis Winston – New Orleans Saints

Jameis Winston and his New Orleans Saints teammates roll into Seattle on Monday night fresh off their Week 6 bye. Winston entered the bye as QB16 averaging 18.66 fantasy points per game. This version of Jameis Winston is not the same as the version we saw finish as QB3 in 2019.

Back in 2019 as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Winston attempted 626 passes, (39/game), this season thru 5 games, Winston is averaging 23 attempts a week and has hit 30 once. Winston known for his interceptions has got that part of his game under control under Sean Payton’s tutelage. The last we saw him start a full season, he tossed 33 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions. This season he is on pace to toss 41 touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions.

Facing Seattle in Week 7, the Saints QB is facing the 19th best fantasy defense against the QB position. The Seahawks are middle of the road against the QB allowing 20.1 points per game. They are a different club at home however. In the two games they have hosted this season they have given up 14.58 points to Ryan Tannehill and 17.50 to Matthew Stafford. I see this as a low scoring game the Seahawks find a way to win. I will be sitting Jameis in all 1QB formats in Week 7.

Geno Smith – Seattle Seahawks

During the Seahawks’ Week 5 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, franchise QB Russell Wilson suffered a finger injury that has landed him on IR. The injury could keep him out for upwards of 6-8 weeks. As a result of the injury, backup QB Geno Smith was thrust into the starting role. Yes, that Geno Smith.

Smith was impressive in relief of Wilson, 10/17 for 131 yards, with a touchdown and an interception. Smith put up 10.54 points in less than a half of football. In Week 5 Geno Smith reminded us all that he is still a QB in this league.

In Week 6 his first start in 1413 days, Geno Smith reminded us all why he’s a backup. Geno struggled to generate anything against the Steelers and settled for 10.26 points and a QB25 finish. The Saints are the leagues 2nd best fantasy defense against the QB allowing 15.6 points per game. Sit Geno Smith in all 1QB formants, and only start him in Superflex and 2 QB leagues if there are no other options.

Running Back

Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints

Entering the bye week, Alvin Kamara sat as RB9 with an average of 17.4 PPR points a game. He has been anything but consistent this season. It has been good game followed by bad each week for Kamara including a season low 8 points in Week 2 and a season high 29.20 in Week 5.

Kamara has yet to rush for 1000 yards in any of his 4 pro seasons while making a fantasy living catching passes. In his 4 season’s, Kamara has averaged 5.4 receptions per game. Through 5 weeks in 2021, Kamara is bringing in an average of 3 a game. The back that has never caught less than 81 passes in a season is on pace to catch 51 this season with an extra game played.

The good news is Seattle isn’t a good defense against running backs. Seattle is giving up on average 30.7 points to opposing RBs a game this season and have given up a total of 6 touchdowns. You don’t need me to tell you to start Alvin Kamara here, but that is exactly what I am doing.

Alex Collins / Rashaad Penny – Seattle Seahawks

Chris Carson is on IR, Alex Collins hasn’t practiced all week, and former first round RB Rashaad Penny has been activated off of IR. Also in the mix are Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas. The New Orleans Saints are allowing 55 yards on the ground per game this season to opposing backs.

The only back I would be interested in is Alex Collins and he is a game time decision as of Friday. This game is Monday night and you simply can’t wait that long to solidify your RB or flex spots. Sit all the Seahawks backs and keep you eye on Penny, he might just be a waiver wire target heading onto week 8.

Wide Receiver

Marquez Callaway / Deonte Harris – New Orleans Saints

Week 6 is the magic week that Saints WR Michael Thomas is eligible to come off of the PUP list, (Physically Unable to Preform). Well MT has not come off the PUP and the Saints WR room remains a solid meh at best.

Entering their bye week, Marquez Callaway is the Saints leading target getter with 21, followed by Deonte Harris, Kenny Still, and Chris Hogan, with 16,9, and 8 respectively. Callaway is the WR53 on the season, and that leads the team. I understand that week 7 is bye week hell for Fantasy Managers and that bye’s and injuries are forcing you to start players you never though you would. I get it, and I want you to sit all Saints WRs here. The floor in zero and the ceiling is just not high enough. Should circumstances dictate you start one, hold you nose and start Callaway.

DK Metcalf / Tyler Lockett – Seattle Seahawks

DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett have been quite the duo for the Seahawks since Metcalf came along in 2019. The pair were both top-12 WRs in 2020, and in the first 4 weeks of this season, Lockett sat at WR10, and DK at WR15.

As noted earlier, Russell Wilson is on IR and Geno Smith is under center until further notice. In relief during the Week 5 loss to the Rams, Smith seemed to lock onto Metcalf as his primary target and Lockett has a distant after thought. Metcalf caught a TD pass and finished as a top-10 WR, while Lockett slid to WR38. The following week against Pittsburgh, Metcalf was WR33 and Lockett WR69.

This week as mentioned is a mess, and I can appreciate why you need to start these two. You are starting Metcalf every week and Lockett is not far off being a weekly starter either. This week I say sit them both, even against a defense that is allowing 40.2 PPR points to opponents WRs. I know you can’t but trust me I wish you could.

Tight End

Start or Sit These Players on Monday Night to Win Week 7 Fantasy

Adam Trautman / Juwan Johnson – New Orleans Saints

Heading into their bye week, Adam Trautman had appeared in four game this season and scored a total of 12.4 PPR points. Juwan Johnson the converted WR had appeared in all 5 of the Saints contests and posted 30.4 points. Johnson was TE25, and Trautman TE53..

The defense between these TEs who both have 64 receiving yards on the season is touchdowns. Johnson has three and Trautman has none. The similarities with these tow TEs are they are both on your bench.

Gerald Everett / Will Dissly – Seattle Seahawks

Gerald Everett has played in 5 games this season for Seattle and he has a total of 27.7 points. Everett sits as the TE32 entering Week 7. Will Dissly has appeared in all 6 of the Seahawks games which is no small accomplishment for him. IN those 6 contests, Dissly has a total of 27.8 fantasy points. Dissly sits one spot up on Everett at TE31. They are both easy sits this week.
