When Alice's friend was going through cancer, she promised her that she'd care for her and her dog. Her friend's journey initiated Alice's growth into becoming an author and storyteller. She shares these powerful nuggets of life wisdom: - be honest with each other - friendship crosses many lines, including racial lines - writing is a safe place to be - meditate, stay in silence and write - find people that are accepting of you - be compassionate with yourself - you are the person that you've been waiting for Alice Butler Collins is a storyteller, author, workshop facilitator and educator. She is the current president of ASE, the Chicago affiliate of the National Association of Black Storytellers. She uses the spoken and written word to educate, entertain and empower her audiences. She enjoys telling stories to diverse audiences. She was privileged to be selected to attend the 2018 Access Africa Institute at Howard University.
