Star Trek the Next Generation - When the Bough Breaks

In "When the Bough Breaks" the Enterprise and her crew encounter Aldea (much like Atlantis) a presumed mythical and or lost world with technology far superior to anything future people can imagine. Riker is particularly fascinated with the legends of Aldea.

The Aldeans are indeed sophisticated when it comes to the joys and lifestyle their technology affords them but they are almost primitive and unfeeling when it comes to the rest of the universe and so they decide its perfectly okay to kidnap children from the Enterprise, Wesley among them.

The crew of the Enterprise struggle with the Aldeans (who have shown their superiority by launching the Enterprise a great distance away with little effort) but ultimately reason comes to these mysterious people.
