Star Trek the Next Generation - Home Soil

Home Soil is a fantastic episode about New Life! While visiting a terraforming operation, the crew of the Enterprise encounter some trouble when a member of the Terraforming team is murdered, (rather gruesomely) by what is presumed at first to be one of the other Team members.

It is soon discovered that the murder was the first strike in a war. The terraformers were assured the planet was lifeless, however a silicon based or inorganic life form existed unbeknownst to the team. The lifeforms tried desperately to communicate their existence to the team but it was dismissed as coincidence or illusion.

Captain Picard and the crew attempt to rectify the hard feelings and establish friendly relations with this new lifeform.
