The Philadelphia Sixers lose to the Boston Celtics. It wasn't even the fact they lost, they got embarrassed on national television. I couldn't even watch the game it was that awful. Joel Embiid shot 1-11 from the field. Tobias Harris recorded 10 points. Al Horford was almost put into retirement since he got absolutely dunked on by Jayson Tatum. Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle, and the support cast did nothing. Ben Simmons was the farthest thing from the problem, but I take zero positives out of this tilt. They shot 21.2% from behind the arc, 36.9% from the field, and only 14 assists total as a team. Jaylen Brown scored 32 points and Tatum was very effective from the field.
The Philadelphia Flyers respond to Sidney Crosby's overtime game winner against the Pittsburgh Penguins by beating the Colorado Avalanche 6-3 at the Wells Fargo Center. On the second half of a back to back, against this powerful team, and with Alex Lyon in net, this is as impressive as it gets! Joel Farabee scored two goals and Sean Couturier three assists. Ivan Provorov was +3 and logged in over 27 minutes. Matt Niskanen scored a goal and was +4 on the night. This was all happening while holding Nathan Mackinnon to 0 points with a -3 rating. Lyon made some remarkable saves throughout the night. The fight and effort by this team is nothing short of entertaining. Kevin Hayes scored a shorthanded beauty to solidify the victory. I love the juice this team plays with! They snag three of four total points in against the Penguins and Colorado with no rest. Absolutely beautiful!
