The Lost Boys (1987): "Sexy, Sexy"

June 29, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 67.9 MB

We can’t believe it’s almost over, but we’re closing out Pride Month here at Spooky Tuesday with the film that’s simultaneously the least canonically gay and most subtextually gay out of the films we covered this month, The Lost Boys. Featuring the two Coreys, Kiefer Sutherland, and Richard Gilmore himself, this ‘80s classic teaches us — as cohost Monica put it — the ever important lesson: Motorcycles are a gateway drug.

What Keeps You Alive (2018): "Gatekeep. Gaslight. Girl Boss."

June 22, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 66.5 MB

How many films can say they feature a row boat chase scene? In a new episode of Spooky Tuesday, we’re talking about What Keeps You Alive (2018), a film that both delivers on the gay shit front and only gets crazier from there. With two wives heading into the woods (somewhere Sydney would tell you that you should NEVER go), things are bound to go bad — but this movie truly gives a new meaning to gatekeep, gaslight, girl boss.

The Haunting (1999): "[Owen Wilson Voice] WOW"

June 15, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 65 MB

We have two and a half words for you: Catherine Zeta-Jones. And then a few more: Owen Wilson saying, “Wow.” If neither of those caught your attention, we’re just not sure how else to sell you on The Haunting — but as another take on Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House, this haunted mansion movie really takes it there with the strange and sinister set pieces. On a new Spooky Tuesday, we’re thirsting after CZJ, practicing our Owen Wilson impressions, and trying desperately to find a s...

The Blood Spattered Bride (1972): "Bush Representation"

June 08, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 66.2 MB

The Blood Spattered Bride (1972) implies in the title alone that it’s got everything we could want in a movie: fake blood, a man-eater, and two brides. What more could the Spooky Tuesday girlies ask for? Full bush representation? Don’t worry, this film has that too, and it’s as ‘70s as you’d expect. A take on the classic Carmilla tale, The Blood Spattered Bride delivers when it comes to vampirism, lesbianism, and incredible vintage fashion.

Jennifer's Body (2009): "Good 4 Her"

June 01, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 72.8 MB

Happy Pride, Spookies!!! We’re kicking off the month by featuring films that couldn’t get much gayer because they actually *are* gay — and we’re starting with Jennifer’s Body, one of the most perfect and iconic films of all time. The world still needs to deliver a serious apology to Karyn Kusama, Diablo Cody, Megan Fox, and Amanda Seyfried, but in the meantime, our latest episode of Spooky Tuesday will serve as the love letter it needs and deserves.

Society (1989): "Eat The Rich"

May 25, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 65.1 MB

Interested in the weirdest class conscious, body horror flick you’ve probably never heard of??? This week, we’re taking on Society, a 1989 film from Brian Yuzna about a teenage boy growing up in a family he can’t quite relate to. But it’s not just a movie about feeling out of place, trusting your gut, and eating the rich, it’s also packed with front butt moments, gross red goo, and tiny blonde hairballs. There’s a LOT to unpack here — and we’re doing it all on a new Spooky Tuesday.

Prom Night (2008): "Idris Elba Is In This "

May 18, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 70.8 MB

Does our episode title not say it all? Idris Elba is in Prom Night (2008), and we’re talking about that incredible piece of casting and all the rest on a new episode of Spooky Tuesday. Also starring Brittany Snow, Jason from Friday Night Lights, Terri from Glee, Kellan Lutz from Stick It, and Ming-Na Wen from Mulan, it has a fairly stacked crew — which might be all that it has going for it depending on who you ask. Dubbed a “baby slasher” by our hosts and given a PG-13 rating, it may or may ...

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984): "He's Got Pizzazz"

May 11, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 66.7 MB

Talk about a movie that’ll give you bad dreams! On a new Spooky Tuesday, we’re talking about Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), the film that launched Johnny Depp’s career, introduced us to Fred Kreuger himself, and (probably) inspired Home Alone. It’s also got plenty of CLEAR references to Scream — or vice versa if you don’t subscribe to that whole time-is-a-flat-circle concept. As we break down this Wes Craven classic, we’re discussing all things crop tops, long arms, and LA filming locations.

Ma (2019): "The Dick We Deserve"

May 04, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 70.8 MB

Are you ~down to clown~ with Ma (2019)? On a new Spooky Tuesday, we’re taking on the Octavia Spencer original, a must see if only because it is the first film we’ve covered that delivers the nudity we deserve: Luke Evans’ dick. Or possibly a fake dick? We’re investigating that question and more as we weigh in on the movie that launched a thousand memes.

The Boy (2016): "Never Trust A Child "

April 27, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 67.8 MB

What is there to say about The Boy (2016) that Chelsea could possibly write that Monica and Sydney would not eviscerate her for? On a new episode of Spooky Tuesday, things get tense as our hosts battle it out over the last Doll Month movie. Featuring a porcelain doll named Brahms, the lost art of reading chewing gum, an incredible sturdy towel situation, and an iconic haunted house out in the middle of nowhere, The Boy has a lot going for it — but opinions differ on whether it delivers.

Magic (1978): "A Punch in the Giggle Dick"

April 20, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 67.5 MB

It’s very possibly one of the fundamental laws of physics that all ventriloquist dummies must turn the creep factor up to 11, but Fats takes it to a whole new level in Magic (1978). In a new episode of Spooky Tuesday, Doll Month continues as we finally explore one of life’s greatest mysteries: Was Anthony Hopkins ever a young person? His age in this movie may be solidly in the middle, but his performance is off the charts.

Annabelle Creation (2017): "Army of Demonic Annabelles"

April 13, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 67.3 MB

Watch your back, Chucky — there’s a new haunted toy in town! This week’s installment of Doll Month is all about Annabelle: Creation (2017), and it just might be the best thing to come out of the Conjuring Cinematic Universe. In our latest episode, we’re unpacking the origin story and doing the math to see just how it stacks up against the film we’ve already covered. Maybe Annabelle can help out with her new knowledge of long division?

Child's Play (1988): "Baby Blood Pact"

April 06, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 66.2 MB

It’s here, it’s here, Doll Month is finally here! You know we had to start with the ultimate haunted doll flick, which is why Spooky Tuesday is kicking off our first theme month by taking on Child’s Play (1988). It’s the movie that gave us Chucky, Seventh Heaven Mom, a new girlfriend named Maggie, another rant about cultural appropriation, and a lifetime of trauma — so, suffice it to say, it’s iconic. On our latest episode, we’re breaking down all of that and more, including Monica’s cursed ...

The Fly (1986): "Insect Politics"

March 30, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 75.4 MB

It’s the great debate of our time: Is Jeff Goldblum hot in his role as the Brundlefly? On a new Spooky Tuesday, your beloved cohosts are at odds as we take on The Fly (1986), but there’s at least one thing we can all agree on, which is that all six feet of Geena Davis could step on us. Join us as we break down all the classic David Cronenberg body horror, pay homage to Tawny, and make a case for gene splicing yourself with an ant instead.

Ready or Not: "A New Scream Queen Rises"

March 23, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 70 MB

Is your family empire even a dominion if you haven’t made an actual deal with the devil? In Ready Or Not (2019), the Le Domases put the rich in ritual goat sacrifice, and Grace is about to find out just what it costs to be one of them… or, uh, not. When the mysterious Mr. Le Bail reveals she’s in for a game of hide and seek — and therefore next for the slaughter — she has to find a way to stay out of sight all night or die trying. Leprechaun (1993): "My Immortal"

March 16, 2021 05:00 - 1 hour - 58.9 MB

Before Rachel Green, there was Tory Reding — and before there was Tory Reding, there was Dan O’Grady, who as it turns out may NOT have actually known the rules when it comes to robbing a mythical creature for their gold. In honor of Saint Patrick’s Day, Spooky Tuesday is taking on Leprechaun (1993) this week, and it’s a doozy. The Invisible Man (2020): "It's On Sight"

March 09, 2021 06:00 - 1 hour - 65.1 MB

If an invisible man gaslights you for a whole movie but no one is around to see it, is he still played by Oliver Jackson-Cohen? This week's Spooky Tuesday answers that age-old question and more as we take on The Invisible Man (2020), which isn't just a remake but a reimagining of the classic creepy story. Featuring Elisabeth Moss, a dog that lives to the end of the film, Aldis Hodge's arm muscles, and one very scary puff of hot air, this flick is a must-see modern movie.

March 02, 2021 06:00 - 1 hour - 66.2 MB

Candyman (1992): "Gimme A Bee Kiss"

February 23, 2021 06:00 - 1 hour - 75 MB

As the great Christina Aguilera says, “Sweet, sugar, Candyman (1992).” A new episode of Spooky Tuesday is all about the sexiest boogeyman we know — and we’re not talking about the Babadook. Not only is Candyman one of the scariest movies we’ve watched yet, it also has a lot to say. This week, we’re talking about what it did right, the moments that missed the mark, and all of the times we wanted Helen and Bernadette to kiss. Give yourself a do-over with three Spooky Tuesday cuties as we take on Valentine (2001), one of those classic bad-good movies from the early aughts with an absolutely stacked cast. The Conjuring: "Bathsheba Crazy"

February 09, 2021 06:00 - 1 hour - 62.6 MB

If we give The Conjuring (2013) five knives out of fives, will Vera Farmiga come and touch us on the forehead and remind us of our fondest memory? We’re willing to negotiate our ratings on this week’s Spooky Tuesday, where we’re talking about the creepy classic — and the first entry into the Conjuring Cinematic Universe.

Get Duked!: "High in the Highlands"

February 02, 2021 06:00 - 1 hour - 76.4 MB

Is Get Duked! (2020) the best horror flick you’ve probably never heard of? When Monica suggested we add the Amazon original to the Spooky Tuesday schedule, we weren’t sure what to expect — but with all of the intensity and energy of a music video and all of the Britishisms and delinquent charm of Misfits or The Inbetweeners, this movie is a guaranteed good time.

House of Wax: "Watch Paris Die"

January 19, 2021 06:00 - 1 hour - 73.5 MB

Is there any horror film more unfairly underrated than House of Wax (2005)? Starring Paris Hilton and more intensely mid-2000's than you can even imagine, this movie was panned by both critics and audiences, but Spooky Tuesday is here this week to tell you that it's a flawless film, actually. Our love for this flick knows no bounds — even if it does have us weirdly rooting for incest.

When it comes to the "New England folktale," we just couldn't shut up — and we guess that figures since this is Monica's favorite Spooky Tuesday yet. On our new episode, we're talking about sexy wood chopping, Game of Thrones, and an IRL demonic goat who stole the show on set.

Better Watch Out: "Eat Shit, Incels"

December 29, 2020 05:00 - 1 hour - 66.3 MB

What happens when the Home Alone kid grows up and gets interested in girls — or at least one girl in particular? This Spooky Tuesday, we're tackling Better Watch Out (2016), the film that takes Kevin McCallister's childish hijinks and turns them into preteen predatory behaviors. Without getting too spoilery right off the bat, all we can say in that this is a movie that slaps you in the face about 30 minutes in — and then it just keeps spinning out of control.

December 15, 2020 06:00 - 1 hour - 69.3 MB

Did anyone else mistakenly remember Gremlins (1984) as a sweet movie about little monsters at Christmas time? Yeah, that is...not that. One our latest episode of Spooky Tuesday, we're talking about the king, the legend, the adorable little creature who inspired Furbies, Baby Yoda, and Vin Diesel himself: Gizmo. Oh, and we're talking about his creepy reptile cousins, too. Come for the holiday spirit, but stay for the hot takes on cultural appropriation.

Cults — yikes, are we right? On our latest episode of Spooky Tuesday, we're talking about The Lodge (2019), which unfortunately isn't actually a lesbian ghost story and instead tackles the tale of a woman slowly losing touch with reality after she's forced to confront her rocky religious past. But, hey, at least it has Alicia Silverstone!

The Blair Witch Project: "The Safe Word Is Taco"

December 01, 2020 06:00 - 1 hour - 68.8 MB

No one's doing it quite like The Blair Witch Project (1999). Not only did the found footage-style film reenergize a genre, it also seriously freaked fans out without ever showing something spooky on screen. The movie was totally one-of-a-kind — and we'll get around to talking about it on this week's "Spooky Tuesday" just as soon as we can stop geeking out over how it was made.
