In this episode of the podcast Caleb sat down at the end of 2020 with his life-long friend Albus Brooks. In this far ranging conversation Albus takes us on the journey of his life and the 'thread of his life's calling' that has guided him forward. Albus was an all-star football player on a trajectory to the NFL when an injury ended that dream in college. After that setback Albus moved into one of the toughest neighborhood in Denver and invested in the lives of young African-American boys through the ministry of Young Life. After seven fruitful years this work propelled him into politics where he won a city council seat in the largest municipal election in history where he ran against 37 other candidates was the youngest African-American ever elected. He rose to become the President of Denver City Council for two terms. He also served as the Director of the Issachar Center for Urban Leadership and as the Outreach and Political Director for John Hickenlooper’s Colorado Governor’s campaign. After the disappointment of losing a bid for a third council term Albus became the VP of Strategy and Development for Milender White where he continues to follow the 'thread of his calling' -- servant leadership & community development. This conversation has so much insight & inspiration (and a few humorous stories of Albus and Caleb's friendship along the way)!
