Founder and CEO of Pharma-Cycle, Jim Mullowney joins the Sauce. Jim is a well-known leader and scientist in the hazardous waste industry and a pioneer in the field of cytotoxic sanitary waste. He has devoted many years to developing the Pharma-Cycleâ„¢ Solution, receiving five patents that place the company front and center in the global fight to make cancer therapy safer. He has successfully advocated for federal and state legislation that mandates control of certain cytotoxic chemotherapy drugs from the time they arrive at the pharmacy all the way through excretion by the patient.

When Jim began his career, it was just becoming unacceptable for manufacturers to pour chlorinated solvents down the drain. Through the years, Jim witnessed the industrial environmental transformation first-hand and the dramatic impact of workplace public awareness, personal health and safety. With over 30 years of experience in the hazardous waste industry, Jim is a pioneer in the field of cytotoxic sanitary waste.

Once he expanding his work into hazardous waste generated by hospitals and universities, Jim recognized an opportunity in the safe collection, destruction, transportation and disposal of cytotoxic chemotherapy. So he developed and patented Pharma-Cycle Solution for the safe disposal of human waste excreted by chemotherapy patients. And continues to be a passionate advocate for the protection of caregivers, families and our water supply.

Jim holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a concentration in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. He did additional coursework in the Suffolk University M.B.A. program. Professional affiliations include the American Chemical Society, the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.
