Thank you for joining me for this episode of Speaking Tongues- the podcast in conversation with multilinguals. My guest today is Gloria, an Italian teacher and founder of SpeakIta.

In this episode, Gloria and I talk about having patience when learning another language and she tells me a strategy that she used to help her learn English while living in the UK. We talk about mindfulness not as a practice but as an attitude that one can apply to learning another language and we discuss the issue of spontaneity and the trouble you can run into when you try to anticipate what someone will say in a conversation.

But one very important point of discussion that we make is about confidence and finding confidence when speaking a new language and how mentality can be so important on your language journey. You’ll also hear us talk about some popular things in Italian culture including the all important language of the Italian hand gesture.

Thank you to Gloria for having this conversation with me and sharing your story with all of us and for such an insightful conversation. As always if you enjoy this episode, don’t forget to like and subscribe on Instagram & rate and review the Speaking Tongues Podcast on Apple Podcasts so that other language lovers like ourselves can find the show!
