On this episode Paul is joined by returning guest, Keith Amoss who asks Paul some questions around the topic of this week’s show, which is the first in a three part series: You don’t need money to be wealthy, largely through the metaphor of a football match.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

I try to look at life from as many different perspectives as possible and I’ve met people from all walks of life and it’s fair to say that no matter who they are or how society may judge them because of their fame, fortune, or not as the case may be, there’s lessons in there for all of us.
What’s in a word? Words have energies and meaning, but they only have the meaning that we choose to give them. Events in life are neutral.  I you think of a football match and one team plays in red, the other in blue, and one of them wins 1-0. The only meaning that result has to the 100,000 people watching, 50,000 supporting each side, is what those different sets of 50,000 people give it. To the winning side it’s been a great game, to the losing side, it’s a horrible game. But the result is the result is the result. This is a great metaphor for life.
We’re conditioned with cliches like “better the devil you know”, “I’m a working class guy”, “girls should wear pink”, “girls shouldn’t play football”, “all rich people are crooks”, “you have to trample on people to get rich”. It can be quite difficult to overcome that. I spent decades in victimhood bemoaning what ball had been played to me and looking at how good other people seemed to have it.
Wealth is usually associated with money in the bank. That is a benchmark for life that we’re taught from an early age. What I’ve learned over the years is that money is an energy – an important energy – but it’s only important predominantly because of the meaning that so many people give it. Again, we have choices of how we see that energy. For me, health, happiness, social status and love are just as important.

BEST MOMENTS

‘I am something. I am nothing. I am everything.’

‘If we focused on just developing ourselves to be the best we can be as a player in the game of life, rather than be distracted by what other players are doing, just maybe the world would become a little bit of a better place.’

‘Life is a very simple game, but boy, do we complicate it.’

‘By trying to help humanity to love life more, humanity then can be kinder to all beings.’
