This highly engaging podcast features an interview with Paul Hart, as he reflects on the values and principles that he has adhered to throughout his highly successful career as both a professional footballer and coach. He provides an insight into his career and the many ways football has changed.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

The principles of respect are vital and to help develop this culture, is an expectation of good manners, no feigning of injury and no abuse; these are all good, positive traits to have in place.
Playing football the right way with principles and discipline stands the test of time. An approach with the same disciplines throughout all levels of the club ensures the players are more confident.
Values and a vision for success that are shared by everyone throughout the organisation are key to achieving goals.
Believing in yourself and your team is an imperative component when building a successful organisation. It is belief about what you can achieve that drives a successful journey.
Trust is a key component for a coach/ manager. The team need to be confident that they are not going to be let down. There needs to be confidence that everyone will do their best.
Fulfilling the role of teacher requires that you have to know and to know anything you have to research it yourself
You must always stand by what you believe in. When you have a focus in life and know what you stand for and against, then you are undeterred about reaching your goals.

ABOUT THE HOST

Something that’s never been attached to Paul is the label ‘normal’ – for which he is immensely proud.  He definitely subscribes to being one of those mentioned – in the Steve Jobs quote:

“Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
