How To Be A Transformational Leader with Rae Irelan

“Transformational Leaders Lead Others in Their Transformation.” -Rae Irelan (04:44-04:48)

Transformation is defined as a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance. For leaders, this means guiding people through the experience of a dramatic shift in their life and making a big difference in this world. In this episode, Rae Irelan talks about how you can be a transformational leader.

Part One of ‘How to Be A Transformational Leader’

Every person in this world has gone through a dramatic shift in their life like transferring to a new school when you were growing up, getting over your ex-partner and everything finally makes sense with your new partner, or it could be a much bigger change. This was most likely an extremely challenging time for you whether you were alone, or you had support.

“Your vibe attracts your tribe. Your lifestyle will always attract others that resonate.” – Rae Irelan (14:44-15:02)

Transformation starts with yourself, but did you show up 100% for yourself, especially in those times where you wanted to run away, or you wanted to get out of your body, you wanted to leave the situation. So, acknowledge yourself for going through that one moment of transformational experience. As a transformational leader, you are guiding people through that process. This can be the most challenging time in someone's life where the leader would step in and offer to be someone's guide all throughout the entire process. You are there for them on every level.

Transformation doesn't happen to yourself. It doesn't happen in a relationship. It affects every single area of your life because it is a big dramatic shift that happens. So, say you're sitting on a chair, one link breaks, the chair's most likely not going to be sitting upright anymore. That surface that your body weight was on is going to shift and adjust. Now for some, depending on that transformation, it might be like a little crack and you catch yourself. For others, that might actually mean that the whole chair breaks underneath you and you get thrown onto the ground. As a transformational leader, you are there for them in whatever that looks like. And we could jump into how you can help others.

Before you can lead others, you have to be able to lead yourself.

So many times, we want to get out of bad situations instead of facing them so we can resolve them. We see this happening over and over again with these different coping mechanisms that we have. It's part of our human nature, but a lot of times those coping mechanisms take ourselves outside of the experience. It's almost like we need a break. Although it's normal and natural, but look at what are you using to cope and are these things actually going to be benefiting you in the long run? A lot of times substances come in during transformation because we don't want to deal with things.

Part Two of ‘How to Be A Transformational Leader’

You will begin to attract others that resonate when you share your fears, failures, triumphs, values or virtues. Your stories that are so rich with all of these components, that's when you'll begin to attract others that resonate. It will be easy to gain followers, clients, supporters, because you're being in your truth. You are putting yourself out there, being visible, and seen in all of it.

“You have a unique story that brought you where you are today and the whole world is waiting to be transformed by it.” – Rae Irelan (17:03-17:21)

You have to be okay with being seen in your truth, your beauty, and your boldness. These courageous steps that you're taking is part of your evolution process. Which, is always going to have some messy parts. Usually, there's this fear of success and if it will change your life if you put yourself on the line. You want to experience that transformation.

There is always going to be new steps of growth and new layers that you get to unravel. During the transformational process, you need to keep moving forward. You will find that you're going to end up in that place that you've been dreaming of, that you've been hoping for. This is because those dreams, hopes, wishes were not given to you just to play with. They are real. So, you're on a transformational journey. Love and enjoy the ride. Have fun. Do it with friends, do it with mentors, inspirations around you. Do it with flowers and nature and reconnect to your life.
