Today on Sojourner Truth with Margaret Prescod:

Funerals began yesterday for the victims of the Pittsburgh synagogue terrorist attack that left 11 people dead. The killing spree has been dubbed the worst against Jewish people in U.S. history. It has shocked a neighborhood known for its tolerance.

The killer expressed not only vicious anti-Semitic vitriol, but also anti-immigrant hate. While discussing the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society based at the Tree of Life Synagogue on his social media platform, he referred to migrant caravan participants from Honduras as "invaders." "HIAS likes to bring invaders in that kill our people. I cant sit by and watch my people get slaughtered. Screw your optics, I'm going in."

Donald Trump and his entourage that included Melania Trump, his daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, along with his Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, were met by thousands of protesters who sang, prayed and cried. No GOP elected officials chose to join Trumps Pittsburgh show even though they were invited. Our guest is Seymour Drescher, who was on his way to the Tree of Life when the attack occurred.

For our ongoing Campaigners for Black Lives series, on Wednesday, October 24, a white gunman killed two Black people in Kentucky: Vicie Lee Jones, 67, and Maurice E. Stallard, 69. He told a white witness who had a gun and was pleading for his life, "whites don't kill whites." Our guest is Reece Chenault with Black Lives Matter Louisville Kentucky.

We're less than a week before voters go to the polls. Today, an in-depth Sojourner Truth Election Watch. We will discuss Proposition 10 with L.A.-based Pastor Kelvin Sauls, and on the Black youth vote Thandiwe Abdullah with Black Lives Matter Los Angeles Youth March on the Polls.
