I sit down today with a pro ultrarunner for Adidas Terrex, a CTS coach, an exercise physiologist, a science writer, and, currently, the woman who has the FKT on the 171 mile Tahoe Rim Trail, Corrine Malcolm.

I begin to ask Corrine how setting a new FKT works. Would you believe that she isn't an outcome-oriented person but a process-oriented despite setting a new time record? As Corrine thinks that some people are more focused on the result, she shares what's the benefit of being a process-oriented athlete.

She also tells me how she plans before going on a trail, when not to proceed on the Tahoe Rim Trail, and what causes problems on a race day.

We also touch down on the effects of "ageism" and "self-comparison" in running as we age.

Before we end our talk, I ask Corrine about her transition journey from cross country skiing to biathlon to ultrarunning as well as the most important thing she prioritizes as an athlete.
