Sleepover Cinema

179 episodes - English - Latest episode: 26 days ago -

Welcome to Sleepover Cinema, where we analyze the films that created the collective unconscious of the girls and gays of the late 90s and early 2000s. Hosted by sister filmmaking duo Hannah and Audrey Leach, also known as Too Pink Productions, Sleepover Cinema is an exploration of the movies that first inspired their love for film aimed at answering the question… are these movies actually good? And at the end of the day, do we really care if they are?

Read It and Weep

April 28, 2022 09:30 - 54 minutes

Kicking off our fifth season, the classic 2006 DCOM “Read It and Weep” asks the essential question: what would YOU do if your incredibly shady, slightly fictionalized diary was leaked to the public and it somehow made you, a 14 year old, famous? There’s a lot to follow in this one, and we can’t wait to go down the rabbit hole with you.  Watch the video version of this episode here! Titanic

March 31, 2022 09:30 - 1 hour

If you haven’t been emotionally ravaged by 1997’s “Titanic” in someone’s basement, have you really lived? Coming from two people who owned the double-VHS of this epic, trauma-laden 11-time Oscar winner, we can tell you that it was an essential part of tween life. In our special season four finale, we shed tears, share LOTS of facts, and even reflect on how “Titanic” reflects The Human Condition. Let us be corny, okay?! Cadet Kelly

January 13, 2022 10:30 - 48 minutes

One of the most inexplicable (and beloved) Disney Channel Original movies, 2002’s “Cadet Kelly” starring Hilary Duff and Christy Carlson Romano is… honestly, a strange one. Is this the story of a liberal NYC mother-and-daughter’s totally unprompted RADICALIZATION? Or is this a very subtle, tongue-in-cheek, subtext-heavy tale of lesbian pining? Thumbelina

A haunting piece of Sleepover Cinema’s “collective unconscious,” 1994’s “Thumbelina” is a much-pondered gem of our canon. We have questions: Who chose Barry Manilow to compose the songs?
