S 4 Ep 5 – Travel, fatigue and jetlag in athletes with Professor Christa Janse van Rensburg


In this episode, we welcome Professor Christa Janse van Rensburg. Professor Janse Van Rensburg obtained her doctorate under the title “The effect of exercise training on the autonomic function, disease activity and functional capacity in females suffering from rheumatoid arthritis” in 2012 following her MMed (PhysMed) (Cum Laude), MSc Sports Medicine, and MBChB (Cum Laude), all from the University of Pretoria. She is an NRF rated researcher and has published widely in the areas of sports medicine and rheumatology, and to date has authored and co-authored over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals.


Additionally, Professor Janse van Rensburg has accompanied many sports teams as a sports physician, both nationally and internationally. She was the team doctor for the national team to the Olympic Games in Athens. For both the FIFA Confederations Cup as well as the FIFA World Cup she was appointed as the Venue Medical Officer at Loftus. She was elected as Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and is currently the President of Exercise Medicine in South Africa.
