In this episode of Simply Straight Talk, Reggie will discuss the change in music.  Music created in the previous era's (specifically the '60s through the late '80s) all had very deep subject matters to appeal to the emotions and values of most people. Although, time passes and different generations have shifting designated focuses— the 1970's dealt The Vietnam War, racial tensions, inflation, unemployment and environmental calamity. During these time, music was treated as a form of awareness for all issues, consider Summer of Love"What's going on" by Marvin Gaye. Marvin Gaye was asking people to look at the current state of the country.

The purpose of creating music was to entice listeners to naturally grasp the lyrics and melody of the songs. In today's society music seems to focus more on a catchy hook and the lyrics are more centered around dancing and partying. Not to mention, with the option of digital platforms artist can releases multiple single versus a full album. The early generation of artist did not have this option which forced them to be more creative and original with their music projects. Basically, music was needed to possess quality content to sell whereas today imagery determines a fans choice in music.
