Hi, I’m Sukhraj Singh from Sikh Archive and welcome to the eighteenth episode of our Podcast series of conversations with historians, authors, academics, journalists and activists on topics related to their areas of expertise on Sikh or Panjabi history.

In this episode we are joined by Nikky-Guninder Kaur Singh who is a Professor of Religion and Chair in the Department of Religious Studies at Colby College. She is the author of the books “The Feminine Principle in the Sikh Vision of the Transcendent” and also “The Birth of the Khalsa - A Feminist Re-Memory of Sikh Identity”.

Professor Nikky-Guninder Kaur Singh has made a large contribution to Sikh studies with respect to interpreting Sikh literature, history, imagery and symbols from a feminine lens and also in the translations of Gurbani and understanding the message of Guru Nanak and so it’s an honour to have her on the show as part of this history and philosophy series we are working on.
