The people we regularly spend time with and the media that we consume no doubt influences our perception of the world. And when we follow a narrow set of people and news outlets, our default perspective is skewed.

So now is the time to question: how do these people, perspectives, and media limit me? How do they affect my decision making? How do they hold me and my business back?

It’s also the time to break out of our bubble to seek out more diverse opinions, perspectives, and approaches—not just because it’s good for business but because it’s the right thing to do.

And that might just be your next step in showing your business who’s boss.

That’s why I wanted to bring on one of my oldest college friends on the podcast. Chiquita Brujita is the owner of Brooklyn Brujeria which, at its core, is built around supporting the arts and building community. She is a woman who shows UP as a total boss in whatever situation she’s in.

Tune into this episode to hear:

How to build a business where the purpose is spreading joy, and the profit is measured by how much it supports growth in the arts
How to support people who are just waking up to the concept of privilege, and how we both agree and disagree on how to handle that
What going to the extremely politically correct Wesleyan University did to both of our perspectives on the world
And how empowered I feel right now and why I feel a lot of shame, and not for the reason you might think
