Going against the grain in parenting can be difficult.

I'm talking about why I think we all should be making our own rules in parenting. I share why I'm passionate about raising independent and resilient adults, what's influenced my view on that, and how I'm implementing it in real life.

I also give some examples of how the American culture and our school environment can make it difficult to stick to your own rules sometimes.

I share a vulnerable story of my own where other moms questioned my decision. I hope it helps you to feel stronger in making and sticking to your own parenting decisions.

Highlights:

Why I think there is no one way to parent The rules and philosophy I'm trying to implement with my kids Two books that have influenced how I think about parenting The specific actions I've taken to change some behavior in our family Examples of difficult situations I've encountered by going against the grain of our community How you can feel confident in making and implementing your own parenting rules
