Love What Matters

The last collision we face with culture revolves around the concept of love. For too many people, love is poorly understood and even more poorly practiced.

Our walk, our manner of living, is meant to be consistent and cohesive. Paul made it clear when he wrote a letter to the churches in Rome that this was an essential part of their Christian life.

Spectator or Participant?

There are numerous places in Scripture that inform us about how Christians ought to act. There are no places in Scripture that inform us about how Christians ought to sit on the sidelines and watch.

True Joy

Joy is not an emotional response to circumstances, at least, it isn’t supposed to be. True joy is a state of being.

Even when God determines to exercise judgment, He provides a way of escape, a way of salvation.

True Love

We have a difficult time comprehending the characteristics of God, His nature and attributes. That makes sense, we are a finite being trying to understand an infinite Being. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t have a better understanding, especially a better understanding of God’s love.

Judgment ~ Genesis 6:1-8

One reality about God that we have to come to grips with is that He is a God of justice, and that means judgment is a reality. We see in this week’s study that God’s judgment is one that we really don’t want to have to face.

True Peace

How do you define peace? If it is simply a matter of freedom from conflict, then we will never know peace, as we will never be free of conflict in this world.

Generations ~ Genesis 5:1-32

What can we possibly learn from a genealogy list? Plenty, as it turns out.

True Hope

Hope does not mean wish when it is applied to our spiritual life; at least, it isn’t supposed to.

Cursed ~ Genesis 4:11-26

We get a lesson in how to respond to grace, although it is a negative example as Cain receives his punishment for murdering his brother.

No Worry

We cannot live without stress; however, we can determine how we are going to respond to that stress. Especially when that response is worry, which is something we are told not to do.

What is it that you’re afraid of? For many people during this year, fear has become a constant companion.
