It was late 2012. I had quit my job 6 months earlier to begin my dream of creating an app business. I was entranced by the 4 hour work week, passive income & idea of creating freedom for myself and being able to work anywhere in the world. 

So for the last 6 months I had about 3 hours of sleep a night, no exercise and had rarely seen any daylight. But I had seen some remarkable results with my apps, and I had published about 30 at this stage and had even got one of my apps to #1 in the UK entertainment charts. So business was going well. 

But I was 100% alone – I had never met another app entrepreneur in my life!

There was a conference in San Diego that December, where a lot of my online app friends were going, so I bit the bullet & decided to fly in from Ireland. 

I was so excited! I had never been to America! All I knew of it was what I had seen on TV. The yellow cabs, the amazing countryside & the funny accents…

That weekend was insane. It was magic to meet people – entrepreneurs who were just like me – and to feel like we all belonged together in our crazy little app business world. We were the little guys, taking on the huge app companies – and doing better than them quite a few times!

Because I had quit my job & had spent the last 6 months ONLY building my app business, I had got more experience than a lot of the other app biz owners there, who were also juggling other jobs & commitments.

I had started to teach myself how to code. But just really basic stuff. Like how to open up the editing program & change the logo graphic. Or how to add in a line of code so an advertisement would appear at the end of the app. 

This stuff took me about 5 minutes to do. 

But from talking to the app people at this conference, this was causing them MAJOR drama!

They were not able to do these simple edits. Instead they were paying developers $50-$100 to do these little 5 minutes jobs AND they were wasting DAYS for these developers to get them done!

So I said ‘that’s a crazy situation!’ and I offered to show everyone how to do these simple codes updates. 

Before I knew it, I was sitting on the floor in the hotel lobby with my laptop. I had about 25 other entrepreneurs sitting around me, and I was demonstrating the steps you need to do to update a logo or add a line of code to an app. 

Because I wasn’t a developer, it was easy for me to explain it in a really step by step way so they could understand – because that was how I had to figure it out myself! 

But because it was the last morning of our trip to San Diego, by about 11am a lot of people had to check out & go catch their flights back home. 

So I promised them I would record some videos of the step by step process & send them to them later than day. 

Then they could watch the videos at home & figure it out themselves. 

So my journey into the world of online courses & coaching, began by accident that day! 

I had no goal of teaching online app courses at the time. Up until then I had been ONLY working on my own business. But my friends needed my help and so it sort of just happened!
