Episode 172: "A Great Adventure."

Greetings, Summit Leaders.

This week I spoke with several Summit Leaders regarding their journey thus far in IBM and life. Two quotes came from them that I believe represent the mindset of Summit Leaders everywhere.

"I think it is going to be a fun adventure!" Summit Leader

As he reflected on the challenges he overcame, the perseverance to keep going when things were tough. He asked "deeper" questions about, "How can we do this better?"  

 His leadership team liked his thinking and ideas and placed him in a new role that delights him about the future.

He is excited about a new role in Kyndryl. 

"Change is coming, and going through it taught me some valuable lessons." - Summit Leader.

Another Summit Leader shared, "I believe that all I desire in a career is available to me here at IBM. I have to decide and go after what I want."

Any new assignment can be challenging for anyone. The key is how we respond. Be bold and courageous on your life and career journey.

The great adventure seeks our purpose and begins to discover who we are, our skills, talents, gifts, and capacity to serve others.

The most incredible adventure in life and career is rooted in serving others. If anyone among you wishes to be great, let that person become a servant to all.

When using our gifts, talents, and skills in this way, we sharpen them and multiply our capacity for effectiveness and impact in creating value as a leader.

We connect with people in our family, company, and clients, and community more deeply. In the process, we are transforming by renewing our minds to think like servant leaders. We radiate, "I care more about you."

We begin to care deeply about those we serve. We distinguish ourselves as leaders in the eyes of our family, colleagues, clients, and the community.

"We care more about you." is our motivation. With the right motives, a clean heart, clear conscience, and confident mind, we serve at a higher level.

Our clients tell our story, and our report will spread around the world.

Think about a time when you made a significant purchase through someone. What qualities did that person display that won your trust and confidence? They cared more about you.

Summit Leaders embody this attitude of caring more about you. That's why the most fantastic surprise will be the outcome of the most incredible adventure. The latter glory will be greater than the former glory for you, our colleagues, our company's culture, our clients, and our communities worldwide.
