In a decade when universe-building and "canon" were a lot less important to sci-fi and fantasy productions, Doctor Who was adapted for cinemas with some radical departures from the TV show. First, the Doctor was human (played by a bankable star), and second, the Daleks were finally seen in color! "Doctor Who and the Daleks" premiered on Jun 25th, 1965, but did the Doctor meet his match with Mary Poppins?
