As a leader, you likely live, sleep and breathe your school. You want to remain comfortable making the same decisions you have always made. You probably believe you can do a better job yourself because you don’t want to risk losing control of the situation or outcome. While you may think you are staying on top of the game, you actually are fueling the cycle of dependency among your staff!

In this episode, I share with you how you can use effective delegation to break the dependency cycle. In order to avoid burnout and declining productivity, it’s important to delegate certain tasks to trusted employees. Doing so can allow you to focus more on your top priorities and less on those tiny day-to-day tasks that you don’t truly need to be doing yourself.

In a nutshell, I speak about:

The concept of dependency. The top three reasons why you are stuck in the cycle of dependency. Some of the thoughts that swirl through your head when you think of delegating. How to train your team to take responsibility for their own projects instead of coming to you hand holding every step of the way.  How to know whether your school encourages responsibility and independent thinking,  or unintentionally fostering dependency. Understanding the priority matrix. Tips on how to start implementing the changes that will help you break the cycle of dependency.
