Australian employers will face tougher penalties under new reforms to protect international students and temporary visa holders from exploitation.
There will be harsh new penalties of up to $126,000 for individuals, and more than $600,000 for companies, that breach the Fair Work Act, including for under payment of salary.
Advocates say migrants and international students now have better protection, but that worker exploitation is a widespread issue.
-अस्ट्रेलियामा काम गर्ने अन्तराष्ट्रिय विद्यार्थी र अस्थायी भिसामा रहेका कामदारहरुलाई शोषण बाट जोगाउन लागु भएको नयाँ नियमका साथ् दोषी ठहर भएका व्यवसायीहरुले कडा जरिवाना तिर्नुपर्ने छ।
आफ्ना कर्मचारीहरुलाई कम तलब दिने लगायतका गतिविधिका साथ् अस्ट्रेलियाली कार्यस्थल कानुन तोड्ने व्यक्तिहरूले १२६,००० डलर र कम्पनीहरुले ६ लाख डलर सम्मको जरिवाना तिर्नुपर्ने छ।
अभियानकर्ताहरुका अनुसार उक्त नयाँ कानुनले अन्तराष्ट्रिय विद्यार्थी र आप्रवासीहरुलाई थप सुरक्षा प्रदान गरेता पनि कामदार शोषणको विषय एकदमै ठुलो रहेको छ।
