This week I’m sharing some of my favorite memories of my career and how they still impact my life.

In 1982 I was voted as an All-Star and I got to bring a guest with me. I decided to bring my dad and during the All-Star luncheon he sat between Pete Rose and Mike Schmidt with me next to Schmidt. He talked baseball with the two legends for a couple of hours.

The next day I got a hit in my first at bat and the camera panned to my dad celebrating in the stands. I have a still photo of him celebrating framed on my wall.

Seeing my dad's joy brought by bringing him to the game as a small thank you for all his sacrifice and support still stays with me today 40 years later.

So I hope all of you out there are finding moments to celebrate with the people you care about, because in 40 years those are the memories and the moments that are going to stick with you.
