This lecture discusses key ideas from the ancient Stoic philosopher Seneca's work, On The Shortness of Life

It focuses specifically on the state many people waste their lives in, which he terms being "preoccupied" (occupatus). The preoccupied rob themselves of the opportunity of enjoying and appreciating their present moment, even when they appear to be focused on the present. They also render themselves unable to use their own past as a resource.
